Brass at the Big Top

Here are a few pics from the last Portland Symphony Orchestra Kinderconcert we went to the other day! It had a circus theme and was lots of fun! One of the trumpet players was so nice to come and chat with the kids afterward.

He showed the kids all the parts and answered their questions!

Mountain Top Music - Cello

This was the second week of Homegrown Explorer's music exploration class with Mountain Top Music. Last week the children learned about and had the chance to play the violin. This week's instrument was the cello. Here are a few pictures . . .

The class has taught the children some basic musical notation, scales and rests as well as about the instrument and the family it is in.

Each week everyone gets a chance to play a simple song on the instrument. The rest of the group sing the song, counts the rests and claps to help keep time.

After all the children had a chance to play. Some of the moms had a turn.
